A new Relais & Châteaux hotel, Villa Clarisse, opens June 1 in the historic port of Saint Martin de Ré. The restored 17th-century property has nine rooms and suites (starting at approximately $250 per night) that feature views over UNESCO World Heritage Site Île de Ré—a sliver of land stretching out into the Atlantic Ocean from La Rochelle. Villa Clarisse has a tea hall in the lobby, a heated pool, and a boutique spa with two treatment rooms in the hotel’s gardens. Guests have access to La Table d’Olivia, the restaurant at sister Hôtel de Toiras, located a few minutes away, as well as the island’s beaches, vineyards, pine forests, and bicycle paths.
