Available in limited quantity, Marcus Watches of Bond Street and Find Watches are the only two retailers to hold the prestigious piece.

Sekonda has been the highest selling watch company in terms of volume, in the UK for the past 20 years.

Vertu phones to drop Symbian for Android

Vertu, the exclusive mobile phone maker has decided against Windows 8 and chosen a less than exclusive operating system to power future models.

The company famous for its exclusive handsets that incorporate expensive materials including carbon fibre, titanium, leather and even gold, with a concierge button, is dropping its Symbian operating system in favor of Android.

The decision is believed to be linked to reports that appeared in the press over the weekend that Nokia has sold the business to EQT, a private equity group.

And while Nokia has been looking to sell the business since June, as all Vertu phones are based on Nokia technology and components, it was believed that Vertu, like its now ex-parent company, would move over to the Windows 8 operating system.

Popular with NBA stars, rappers and Premier League footballers alike, Vertu was the original luxury handset, the cell phone equivalent of the American Express black card.

But since the launch of the Ulysse Nardin Chairman – which combines the best elements of a smartphone wih the best of a handcrafted Swiss chronograph and was recently named by the Guinness Book of Records the world’s most expensive mobile phone series (handsets are strictly limited and can cost up to $100,000) — it has been slowly slipping into second place in the category it created.

RJ-Romain Jerome reveals first Art-DNA timepiece

RJ-Romain Jerome has launched its first contemporary art timepiece under the Art-DNA banner, collaborating with Swiss artist John M Armleder.

These Art-DNA pieces are made of polished steel. The skull motif applique is raised and serves to decorate the hammered, polished dial. The skull motif, already featured in mural paintings by Armleder, is said to be inspired by Amerindian culture.

The underside of the applique is lacquered with a colour revealed by a subtle play of shimmering reflections on the dial. Each piece is a different colour. The back of the watch is numbered and bears an engraved medallion with the artist’s signature.

For John M Armleder, ″the skull evokes a memento mori and an allegory of the passing of time, which is an appropriate subject for a timepiece and which interests both art and watch collectors″.

The artist adds: ″All these watches that give the impression of looking alike are ideally suited to death, which is basically the same for everyone, but which takes place differently each time.″

Swiss manufacturers Hublot has launched its King Power FC Bayern Munich timepiece, a watch that was designed by the team in collaboration with the brand.

The King Power FC Bayern is a titanium chronograph with a precise 45-minute display specially developed for football players. The watch comes with a red stripe detail on the black rubber strap and a large FC Bayern Munich logo on the dial.

The new model was unveiled with the brand’s chairman Jean-Claude Biver and Bayern Munich’s executive board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

Limited to just 200 individually numbered pieces, the King Power FC Bayern Munich is now on display at the headquarters of the FC Bayern München club.

Breitling Chronomat 41 Limited

The popular Breitling Chronomat 41 is now available in a black and red color-set, limited to 2,000 pieces.

Under the transparent sapphire crystal caseback, there is a 41mm polished case with a black dial, instead of the blue dial found on the original watch, with a red central chronograph seconds hand and red counter hands.

The original lines of the steel case are enhanced by all-polished finishes – as are the bracelet and the rotating bezel engraved with exclusive numerals.

The Breitling Chronomat 41 Limited watch has been chronometercertified by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute).

It is water resistant to 200 m (660 ft), and features 70 hour power reserve. The wristwatch is limited to only 2000 pieces, while pricing details are still unknown.

Recently offloaded by Nokia, luxury phone brand Vertu has launched the super-luxurious Constellation Black Neon.

Handmade from leather, carbon fiber and rubies the Black Neon lays in an opulent exterior that is “Modern and masculine” and “reminiscent of a luxury sports car.”

Made by a single craftsman, the Black Neon is decorated in perforated leather with neon colored accents over PVD stainless steel, with a polished sapphire crystal 3.5-inch touchscreen.

Available in neon blue, neon orange, and neon silver the phone also has an intricate ruby surround on the shutter key for the 8-megapixel camera.

Vertu owners receive 24-hour access to a service they can call for expert assistance, recommendations and priority bookings.

The Vertu Concierge can arrange anything from gifts to “money-can’t-buy events and experiences”.

The Cartier Astrotourbillon Carbon Crystal Watch was born from the Cartier ID One Concept Watch which was announced in 2009.

The Cartier ID One and ID Two concept watches were never meant to be marketed despite the years of research and all the investment that went into making them.

Rather, their role is to express a vision of the future and point the way to future goals for Cartier. And like most concept programs, the innovations born there may in whole or in part one day become a reality. Such is the case with this new timepiece.

The piece uses some of the technological solutions tried and tested in Cartier ID One: the niobium-titanium case, carbon crystal components, and the adjustment-free and lubrication-free pallet and escapement wheel.

On top of this, the watch is also based upon Cartier’s rethought the concept of the tourbillon that is the “Astrotourbillon” – a carriage with its axis of rotation at the center of the movement; the off-center balance wheel bridge is designed as an arrow and turns once round the dial every minute, pointing out the seconds.

Although this watch is “production”, it will still carry a six-figure price tag (the white gold Astrotourbillon Ref. CRW1556204 was priced at $133,000). Coming in 2013.

Thus we see the Cartier ID Program bears the fruit which was intended: from a one-off concept watch to a production piece!

Francois-Henri Pinault’s Greubel Forsey GMT Watch

Francois-Henri Pinault is a French businessman and the Chief Executive Officer of Pinault-Printemps-Redoute (PPR), a Paris-based congolmerate that owns Gucci, Yves St. Laurent and Bottega Veneta; his family is worth an estimated $11.5 billion.

He is also the son of the PPR’s founder, businessman François Pinault, and husband of famous actor Salma Hayek.

For his 50th birthday it seems that Mr. Pinault’s father (Francois Pinault) bought him a Greubel Forsey GMT watch, which reportedly retails for £325,000, or about $500,000.

This interesting tidbit was mentioned rather casually by Mr. Pinault in a story which ran recently in UK’s  The Telegraph newspaper.

Richard Mille’s new Tourbillon RM 053 Pablo Mac Donough was designed specifically for the brand’s polo-playing ambassador in order to offer him a tourbillon that could withstand the tough conditions of a polo game.

Richard Mille solves the problem with an extremely tough case in microblasted titanium and titanium carbide with just two small windows to display the time.

The seconds run with the tourbillon cage on the left viewing window and on the right the hours and minutes are shown. This angled view is ideal when seen from the rider’s saddle.

The highly compact, totally new tourbillon movement design utilizes a highly skeletonized baseplate and bridges with a compact going train-winding barrel arrangement.

Since the movement itself is ultra light and tightly unified, it is less susceptible to the centrifugal and centripetal forces generated during a game.

The RM 053 Tourbillon Pablo Mac Donough is a limited edition of 15 pieces.

Hermes Makes $1.9 Million Gold Handbags

Hermes, which already produces the world’s most expensive functional handbags, the Kelly and the Birkin, has unveiled four new designs, each priced at $1.9 Million.

The miniature totes, which are crafted from gold and studded with thousands of precious stones, double up as high jewellery.

Significantly smaller than the popular leather versions, they are designed to be worn as a bracelet, with the handbag strap resting on the wrist.

It took accessories designer Pierre Hardy, two years to produce the intricate creations. Each of the new designs will only be produced three times.

When asked who he thought would buy the handbags Patrick Thomas, Hermes’ CEO replied: “I have no idea. But maybe they will have two bodyguards!”

The Gresso company presents an exclusive Grand Monaco collection model, designed entirely in extravagant black color.

The new model is released in two editions: Pure Black Cayman with crocodile leather and Pure Black Carbon with Italian carbon leather.

The phone case is executed from high resistant and light titanium alloy. At the finale stage of the manufacturing the case is being covered with several high-tech ceramics layers.

For the first time in the Grand Monaco collection the numeral keyboard is set on the plate of black toned glass. The phone screen is also protected with 42 carat sapphire glass polished by hand with a diamond tool.

The keyboard of the device is crafted from surgical steel. The accurate and impeccable shape of every key button is created due to precision cutting technology.

The titanium PVD-surface coats the keyboard which makes it mirror- black and resistant to the mechanical damages.

The Gresso Pure Black Model has a limited production run of just 100 units and cost a cool $2,700 each.

The phone is available for sale at authorized Gresso dealers only and at online-boutique www.gresso.com.

The new analogue clock on Constellation Quest Ferrari is inspired by the distinctive rev-counter on Ferrari’s 458 Italia.

A new set of ringtones was obtained from live recordings of a Ferrari 458 Italia on a test circuit and is available exclusively to this handset.

With Constellation Quest Ferrari, Vertu has enhanced its offering of relevant, tailored services even further. Once a customer registers the handset with Vertu Concierge, it becomes the key to the world of Ferrari.

By pressing the specially created Cavallino key, prominently featured on the front of the handset, customers are able to access unique Ferrari content and experiences.

As well, this watch will retain the reference 15202 despite the cosmetic changes, and it will only be available with a historically inspired blueish grey dial.

The Royal Oak Jumbo will be available in stainless steel and rose gold once it is released.

On the second watch, two rows of diamonds make the bezel sparkle. Diamonds have also been set into the lugs, and a single rosecut diamond adorns the crown.

As with models of prior years, both versions feature traditionally crafted silver opaline dials, with domed and strongly defined black Roman and Arabic numerals.

Presented in 18k white gold, these models are fitted on a black alligator strap and matching white gold pin buckle, and both are executed in the resolutely classic 27.5mm width, respecting the traditional dimensions of an iconic dress watch.

As with the other Slim Classique collection models these new pieces are powered by an ultra-flat hand-winding movement crafted by Piaget for Ralph Lauren.

New Prada Phone by LG 3.0 for 2012

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents New Prada Phone by LG 3.0 for 2012.

 
LG and fashion label Prada are collaborating for the third time to release the first LG Prada smartphone, the Prada phone by LG 3.0.

The first LG Prada, also known as LG KE850, was the world’s first mobile phone to use a touchscreen display.

The teams behind the design and construction have offered a sneak peek into the handset that will be on offer next fall via an image released by the company.

Neither of the two concerned companies has revealed any information on the upcoming LG Prada phone.

Dr. Jong-seok Park, CEO of LG Eletronics Mobile Communications Company, said, “Our working relationship with PRADA is unique in its longevity and success, something no other phone company and luxury brand have been able to replicate.”

Designer labels attached to phones is not a novelty these days considering the Hugo Boss Samsung Galaxy Ace or the BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9981 devices.
