The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Quick guide to Paris during Couture.
With the couture shows well and truly underway and Paris at it’s flamboyant best, here’s five ways to make the most of the city of lights.
1. Take time for tea at Laudurée’s exquisite tea salon at 16 rue Royale. After witnessing whippet-thin models stalk down the runway you might not feel like indulging in bitter chocolate, pistachio or orange blossom macaroons (just try to resist), but it is the perfect prelude to a turn about the tuileries.
2. Brush up on recent fashion history at Les Arts Decoratifs (the museum of decorative arts, just a skip away from le Louvre). Les années 1990-2000 spans a pivotal and at times radical ten years in the industry with the exhibition featuring 150 designs selected from icons like Martin Margiela, Issey Miyake and Alexander McQueen.
3. Take a stroll down rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré past YSL, Givenchy, Hermes, Lanvin, and Prada, then take a left onto rue Cambon and make your way to number 31 where Chanel’s flagship store awaits. If there’s still time, duck to Colette store for the latest, coolest, most covetable everything.
4. Hotel Costes is the place to dine for the people watching alone. With its sumptuous interior and super-chic clientele it’s possible you might have trouble focusing on the menu (don’t miss dish: le tigre qui pleure). But be warned, reservations are taken on the day and they’re as hard to obtain as a ringside seat at the shows.
5. Join the long list of fabulously famous patrons to have graced the opulent surrounds of The Ritz Paris. Perch on the plush banquettes of Bar Vendôme sipping Champagne and channelling the likes of Marlene Dietrich, Ernest Hemingway, and the inimitable Coco Chanel.
